Ingredients
1/2 Cup sliced almonds chopped
1 1/2 TBSP sugar plus 1/3 Cup
3/4 Cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter softened
1 tsp almond extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 3/4 cups flour
1 Egg white, lightly beaten
Preparation
- In a small bowl combine nuts and 1 1/2 TBSP sugar
- In large bowl, beat butter, 1/3 cup sugar, almond extract and salt on medium speed until creamy and smooth (2 mins)
- On low speed, gradually beat in flour until just blended. Gather into ball, flatten slightly. Wrap in plastic wrap, refrigerate 1 hour
- Heat oven to 350 degrees
- Drop dough by tablespoons onto cookie sheet.
- Lightly brush cookies with beaten egg white and sprinkle nut-sugar mixture over the top
- Bake in oven for 15 mins or until lightly browned. Transfer cookies to wire rack, let cool completely
