Ingredients

1 cup sifted cake flour

1.5 cups sifted granulated sugar

12 large egg whites

1 tsp cream of tartar

1/4 tsp salt

1.5 tsp vanilla

1.5 tsp lemon juice

Preparation

Sift flour and 3/4 cups sugar together. Sift remaining 3/4 cups sugar and set aside. Beat egg whites on low until frothy, then add cream of tartar. Continue to beat egg whites until they form soft peaks. Gently beat in 3/4 cups of sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice. Stop beating and fold in flour and sugar. Pour into a cake pan and cook on 325 for 40-45 minutes.
