Ingredients

16 cups sliced apples

1 cup white or brown sugar (Omit if using sweet apples)

Cinnamon to taste

Preparation

Place sliced apples and sugar in baking pan and let stand covered over night.

Bake apples covered at 350* until heated through stirring occasionaly. (About 45 minutes to 1 hour)

Reduce oven temperature to 200* and bake another 5 hours stirring occasionaly.

Puree apples in blender adding about 1 tsp cinnamon per blender batch.

Pour into clean jars and process in water bath for 15 minutes.

**Original recipe said to return blended apples to pan and bring to a boil. Pour into hot sterilized jars and place hot lids on immediately (Open kettle method).
