Ingredients

1/4 cup white sugar

1-cup brown sugar

3/4 cup butter (1 ½ sticks)

1 egg

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 all-purpose flour

1-teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 plus 1/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1 1/2 cups apple peeled and cored and finely

Chopped

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

3/4 cup applesauce (cinnamon flavor)

1 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

Preheat oven 300F.

· Sift flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir in oats.

· Cream butter and sugars. Scrape down sides. Add in egg and vanilla. Mix in apples and applesauce. Mix well.

· Gradually mix in flour mixture. DO NOT OVER MIX. Fold in nuts.

· Drop rounded tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet 1-½ inches apart. Sprinkle top of each cookie with reserved ¼ cup oats. Bake 23-25 minutes or till bottoms are golden. Transfer immediately.
