Ingredients

5 cups sliced, peeled apples (such as Macintosh)

6 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 cup oats

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, ginger, or cinnamon

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup chopped nuts

Preparation

  1. Spray oil in a 2-quart baking dish. Place sliced apples in dish. Stir in granulated sugar.
  2. For topping, in a medium bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and nutmeg. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the nuts. Sprinkle topping over apples.
  3. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30-35 min. or until apples are tender and topping is golden.
