Ingredients

3 large granny smith apples

3 large cortland or other tart apples

1 pie crust (bottom only)

1/2 C sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

Crumb Topping:

1/2 C sugar

3/4 C flour

1/3 C butter (cold and cut into small pieces)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Line a 9 inch pie pan with crust of your choice. Peel, core, and slice apples into eighths. Arrange apple slices in pastry-lined pie pan and sprinkle with 1/2 C sugar mixed with cinnamon. Top with crumb topping.

Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake another 40 minutes or until apples are tender.

To prepare the crumb topping sift 1/2 C sugar with flour. Cut in butter until crumbly.
