Ingredients

Crumb Topping

1/2 c + 2 T flour

1/2 c brown sugar

1/3 c granulated sugar

1 t cinnamon

1 stick margarine cut into pieces

Filling

7 Med to large apples

1 T lemon juice

1/2 c granulated sugar

3 T flour

1/2 t cinnamon

1/8 t nutmeg

Preparation

use a nine inch pie plate set on top of a cookie sheet on bottom rack. Pre-heat oven to 450 F. Line pie plate with lower crust only. Mix crumb topping into coarse crumbs. (use pastry cutter). Peel, halve and core apples. Slice into small pieces. Put in bowl with lemon juice and water. Drain apples and mix with remaining ingredients. Put apples in pie shell, mound higher in center. Pat topping evenly over apples to form crust. Bake 15 min @ 450 reduce temp to 350 bake 45 minutes or until done.
