Ingredients

2 tablespoons sugar

1 egg

1/3 cup milk

1 cup flour

1 cup pared, chopped apples

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon melted shortening or butter

2 tablespoons baking powder

oil or fat for frying

Preparation

  1. Shift dry ingredients together then add chopped apples.
  2. Beat egg slightly, add milk.
  3. Add liquid to dry ingredients. Beat until smooth.
  4. Drop by the spoonful into hot oil heated to 365-375 degrees. Fry until light brown. Drain. Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar.
