Ingredients

1 1/2 cups steel-cut oats

1/2 cup wheat berries

2 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

3 1/2 cups water

1 cup apple juice (or just another cup of water if you don’t have apple juice)

modification: I add a few handfuls of fresh, rinsed cranberries if available

Preparation

grease slow cooker (I use butter) combine all ingredients cover and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours – I do it overnight so it’s ready in the morning for breakfast

top with brown sugar or real maple syrup
