Ingredients

Pastry for two-crust pie

1/2 c. sugar

1/2 c. brown sugar

1/3 c. all-purpose flour

1 tsp. nutmeg

1 tsp. cinnamon

dash salt

8+ c. tart apples, pared & thinly sliced

3 Tbls. butter

Preparation

Heat oven to 425.

Prepare pastry, lining pie plate.

Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Mix with apples.

Turn mixture into pastry-lined pie plate. Dot with butter.

Cover with top pastry, seal, and flute edge. Cut slits in top.

Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until curst is brown and juice begins to bubble through slits in crust.
