Ingredients

FOR PIE:

4-5 med. granny smith apples

1/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 tsp salt

3/4 tsp cinnamon

2T flour

2T butter

2 tsp lemon juice

FOR CRUST:

3 cups flour

1 c shortening (I use butter flavored Crisco)

1/4 tsp salt

6-8 T cold water

Preparation

Prepare pie crust by mixing all ingredients (except for the water)together until crumbly Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Mix in cold water until dough is firm, not soggy. Divide into 2 balls and roll out to fit pie plate. Peel and slice apples. Mix all ingredients except butter. Pour mixed ingredients into the bottom crust. Moisten the outside edge ; fold the top crust in half and score the middle section. Dot top of apples with butter in the mid section. Place upper crust on top and seal edges. Bake at 425 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
