Ingredients
STEAK
3lb tri-tip or flank steak
1/4 soy sauce
1 Tbsp Chinese 5 Spice
2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 Tbsp sesame oil
1 Tbsp brown sugar
Juice and zest of 1 orange
1 Tbsp fresh ginger minced
1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced
DRESSING
1/4c canola oil
2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1/4C toasted sesame seeds
1 tsp salt
1 clove garlic, minced
SESAME SLAW
1/2 head green cabbage, sliced
1/2 head red cabbage, sliced
1/2 red onion finely chopped
1 large carrot, shredded
1/2# fresh bean sprouts
Preparation
Combine following ingredients for the steak marinade: soy sauce, Chinese 5 spice, vegetable oil, minced garlic, sesame oil, brown sugar, juice and zest of orange, fresh minced ginger, sliced green onions in a plastic bag. Add the steak, seal bag and marinate at least 2 hours. Heat grill and cook steak 8 to 10 minutes per side depending on the thickness. Remove from the grill and allow to rest 5 minutes before slicing. Serve steak over the sesame slaw.
Whisk all dressing ingredients together in a bowl. In a large mixing bowl combine the cabbages, red onion, carrot and bean sprouts. Toss the salad ingredients with the dressing. Refrigerate up to 1 hour before serving.
