Ingredients
1/2 pound butter
5 eggs separated
3 cups sugar
3 cups flour 1/3 teaspon soda
1 tablespoon water
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preparation
- Sift flour and set aside.
- Beat egg whites and set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar together.
- Add egg yolks one at a time to butter & sugar.
- Alternate while adding flour, milk, and soda.
- Fold in beaten egg whites.
- Add vanilla.
- Bake slowly at 300 degrees for 1 to 1&1/2 hours.
