Ingredients

1 lb great northern beans, picked over

2 qt water

2 large onions, chopped

1/2 large can crushed tomatoes

“Carmel” beef soup powder (about 3T to taste)

Salt (to taste at end of cooking)

Preparation

Soak beans 6-8 hrs in water or overnight (or boil for 3 1/2 hrs) Saute onions in oil Add water and drained beans, bring to low simmer. Cook 1 hr, then add tomatoes. Simmer until beans are soft and soup has thickened. Salt to taste. Serve w/ pink rice.
