Ingredients
1/2 c. unsalted butter
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. maple syrup
1 c. coarsely chopped pecans
8 lg eggs
1 1/2 c. half and half
1 1/2 t cinnamon
1 t vanilla extract
1, 1 lb loaf egg bread such as challah, cut into 1 1/14 in thick slices
Preparation
- Melt over medium heat butter, brown sugar, and syrup until smooth. Transfer to 13X9X2 baking dish. Sprinkle pecans over.
- Whisk eggs, half and half, cinnamon and vanillas in large bowl.
- Dip bread pieces into egg mixture and arrange in single layer in baking dish.
- Pour remaining egg mixture over bread slices. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- Heat oven to 350. Bake uncovered until golden brown and knife inserted in center comes out clean, about 40 min.
- Cut into 6 pieces; serve pecan-side up with maple syrup.
